Outside, the cold shell of the facade. Inside, a warm heart of light.
From the outside, the new maternity house in Ljubljana, by Jereb&Budja architects might appear cold, even vaguely clinical, with its prefab glass elements and metal cladding. This choice of materials was a deliberate creative choice by the architects, which allowed them to deliver the building within the means of the modest budget, while still achieving to realise a design that is elegant and graceful. The task of filling this cold shell with familial warmth fell to the lighting designers, who used careful light temperature modulation and regulation, to turn the house into a home.
